Less than two weeks ago, Edmonton-St. Alberta MP Brent Rathgerber quit the Tory caucus to sit as an independent, refusing to be a “cheerleader” for the government. A few months before that, a complaint by fellow Conservative MP Mark Warawa touched off a debate about how much individual freedom our elected representatives have to speak in the House of Commons. In other words, the timing couldn’t be better for a documentary that exposes why our politicians act like “trained seals.”
Whipped: the secret world of party discipline will premiere in Ontario this week, beginning in Ottawa on Thursday and travelling to Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo and Thunder Bay. The screenings will be followed by panel discussions including myself and other politicos.
For details of those free screenings, see the poster above, the following news release or our Facebook events page. For what others are saying about the documentary, click here.
